Thirty years ago, if you found a stable company to work for, all you had to do was devote yourself to them, and you would be employed forever. There was a good chance you might have gotten a pension, and all sorts of other benefits as well. Well, let me be clear about this, these days are long gone. The economy in the United States is now so bad, we are reaching a complete economic catastrophe. What this means for you is that there is risk in every job in this economy. Just because you worked at a company for many years does not mean anything anymore.

How to Decide Whether You Should Look for Another Job

When looking at the answer to this question, there are a host of factors. Some of these are:

  • Do you want to stay on the same career path?
  • Do you support a family such as wife and kids?
  • Do you have a mortgage payment?
  • Do you have reasons for needing to stay in your same area or can you look for jobs in other locations?
  • How well do you get along with coworkers and your boss?
  • Do you feel like there is decent potential for upside at your current company?

When thinking about the previously mentioned items, what you need to remember to do is use common sense and ask yourself, “Is there any benefit to staying at my current company? Or, am I putting myself more at risk by continuing employment?” One of the principles of acting intelligent is “change” and there are a lot of cases where failing to change could end up putting you in a much worse situation than the alternatives.

Summary of When To Look for Another Job, Should You Stay or Should You Go?

Just like everything valuable in life, these types of decisions require careful thinking, careful attention to detail, and a careful analysis of the state of your situation. The most important thing that I would like to emphasize in this article is the concept of change. Please do not get stuck in a situation because you failed to seek change at an appropriate time. Some things in life are just too obvious even though know one is talking to you about it directly. Make intelligent decisions and hopefully you will have a brighter future.

To your personal success & happiness.

Sincerely,
