Once I have a list and it is prioritized, I will sort it so that the most important tasks are listed first. To have really effective time management skills, it is really important to filter out unnecessary tasks and distractions. A lot of the time there might be things I could go take care of in town, but I will not do them unless they are all lumped together. Going out of your way to perform one, out of the ordinary task can be a serious time sink. If you are going to the grocery store, don’t go on Sunday when you aren’t doing anything else, go on the way home from work so that you can save yourself the time of driving to the store on Sunday. Use the concept of bundling tasks everywhere you can.

As mentioned in the earlier paragraph, one of the biggest dangers of wasting time is distractions that pull you away from your goal. If you are going to spend much time dating for example, be careful not to let this trap the majority of your time. I know of friends who have many times had to stop working out, or stop working on their business because the female they were dating was demanding so much of their time, they couldn’t concentrate. If you have a situation like this going on in your life, you need to make sure as I have said before to prioritize. If it turns out that dating is eating more time than makes sense, break up with your partner. Or, if your business is taking too much of your time, stop your business and focus on your partner. It all boils down to what your goals are. Decide what your goals are and then approach the situation intelligently.
