Who says that you have to belong to a gym to lose weight? This article is designed to give you some practical advice on how to exercise at home. The price of a gym membership is more than some people can afford. With rising prices on everything from gas to groceries, finding ways to save money is a high priority.
One of the greatest things about learning how to exercise at home is that you save money! There is a way to save your hard earned pay without sacrificing your ability to exercise and stay healthy. You can still lose weight and get healthy when you work out at home.
There are several advantages to working out at home. You don’t have to get in your car and drive – anywhere. When you get up in the morning or come home at night, grab your shoes and your workout clothes and head to the living room or spare bedroom.
Remember the 80′s workouts at 5:30 am? I used to love to do those! What happened to those? The greatest thing in the world is that it doesn’t matter what you look like. No one can see you!
I’ve always despised gyms because I seem to always see girls in there with make up on and their hair done just to impress the guys. I felt like I was at a social club rather than a gym.
There’s also some great DVD’s out there that you can buy. Go to your local Target or Walmart, or go on Amazon.com. There is a different DVD for every body part practically. That’s why I love them! Videos are especially good for abs.
At the gym, you may not feel comfortable working out with those who are moving at a faster pace. At home, you can rewind a portion of the routine that you got wrong and do it again.
When you are trying to learn how to exercise at home, there is one main benefit to this. It increases your chances of sticking to the program. Why?
Gym memberships tend to lose their excitement after awhile for some people. Do you always wonder why so many people join gyms after New Years and then cancel by March?
Work, kids, and family tend to weigh on everyone heavily, so by the time you get off work, you may not feel like going to the gym.
The other issue is sometimes your gym may not be located very close to your house. If this is the case, it gets very difficult to stay motivated when your gym is off the beaten path.
I personally like to work out in the morning BEFORE work. This definitely puts me in the “exercising from home” category. If you are learning how to exercise at home, I suggest trying to get it done in the morning. Then you don’t have to worry about it when you get home at night.
Find out which types of exercise you like to do the best and find resources that you can use to do them at home. One of the best things you can do is buy a set of hand weights. You can pick them up at any sports store like Big 5, or Sports Authority.
I think one of the main reasons that you don’t see women in the weight room at the gym is because they are afraid of all the “testosterone” in the room. Why not learn how to exercise from home with weights? You can get the same exact equipment and do the same exact exercises at home.
