Proper Yoga flow is more than just continuous movement, it encompass proper breathing, proper form, and proper relaxation of your central nervous system. There is tremendous spiritual, health, and other benefits that can come out of understanding how to properly flow in a Yoga routine. If you flow perfectly during a Yoga routine, you essentially achieve what the Chinese call ‘Chi.’ This sort of energy is the same thing that can be seen in martial arts such as Tai Chi, or form of Qi Gong.
Understanding Proper Yoga ‘Flow’
The most important thing to do when trying to properly perform Yoga flow is proper breathing. To breath properly you are going to need to make sure you are relaxed through your entire breath. This means both physically and spiritually. From head to toe, your entire body has to be relaxed. In Chinese Martial arts they call this “external.” You must also make sure you relax your “internal.” Relaxing your internal means you must relax your thoughts, your mind, your consciousness. If you are able to relax and incorporate both internal and external into your Yoga routine during breathing, (ideally at all times), you can significantly improve the effectiveness of your routine, and some say you can even “purify” your soul. A constant flow of Chi through your body is like taking a sponge and soaking up anything that is causing pain, stress, or issues that you may have. Keep these concepts in mind while doing your breathing. The other thing I wanted to take about is diaphramatic breathing. This is obvious but I wanted to explain how to best perform diaphramatic breathing. Imagine all your air coming from your “Dantian.” This is Chinese and represents where all your energy comes from. It comes from the center of your body and all air in take should come from this location. Focus on Dantian based breathing and you will be amazed at the results.
How To Properly Pose
When performing Yoga poses, you want to make sure you are not straining your body in any way. If you strain your body, you significantly hinder the health benefits and the flow of Chi. What you want to do is only put the amount of effort requires such that you feel a good stretch, a good strength increase, and can relax at the same time. Remember from my description before, you have both internal and external aspects of your training. If you are looking for a really good work out you can flow at a fast pace and put your muscles under a lot of resistance. This really works and can significantly help weight loss, toning, and body sculpting. If you are looking to relax, or to cleanse your body of negative energy, there is nothing better than focusing on internal training with Yoga. Of course, ideally for perfect health, you need Yin/Yang which essentially translates to a perfect balance of both internal and external. For internal training you are going to want to breath very deep, and go slowly through all the poses with careful attention to relaxation and calm.
Yoga Flow Conclusion
For optimal health, Yoga is one of the best tools invented by man. By focusing on the proper flow, you can spread Chi throughout your body which yields to significantly improved health. Proper Yoga flow also yields to a well sculpted body, weight loss, piece of mind, stress relief, increased flexibility, and about every other health benefit imaginable. If you are looking to really improve your health, there is no better way than Yoga.
